The Devil is Number 15 in the Tarot deck and represents all forms of bondage.

|
Upright:
The Devil is not so much an evil card as it is a negative one. It
represents the prisons that you make for yourself. You allow negative emotion
to hold you hostage, preventing your own growth at a human being. It is a good
time to look at how you feel and analyze why you feel that way, because you’re
allowing negativity to guide your life. Anxiety, greed and resentment;
jealousy, fear, dishonesty and duplicity have become the mainstays of your
daily living. Above all, these attitudes hurt you much more than they hurt
anyone else. Your moral compass is spinning wildly as you seek a way out of
this mindset on a subconscious level. The Devil also indicates addictions that
are holding you in bondage. These addictions take different forms, be it a
tendency to form bad relationships, or physical addictions as in drug use or
alcohol abuse. The Devil is fueled by the very things that make you human, and
serves as a reminder to examine your frailties.
|
|
Reversed:
You release the things that are holding you back and move forward. You seek
treatment for addictions and turn over a new page in the book of your life.
